Manage Space on your iPad

In todays world we can utilise a lot of media rich technology. It is simple enough then to notice the storage space on your iPad can decrease rapidly. It is essential that you remember your College iPad is for educational purposes not entertainment purposes.
Local Storage VS Cloud Storage
Local storage is the amount of space you have on your College iPad. If you'd like to find out which apps are using all this space, it is possible to do this from the iPad itself. Just select Settings -> General -> Usage. Here you will see which Apps are using all your space.
Deleting apps to create more storage space:
Pick the information you no longer require carefully. Work which is not used for school should be deleted first. You can always addd it again at a later time.
Cloud Storage is where you should try to store all work. Why? Becasue it is retrieveable. This means that you can store your data on the internet, and access it whenever you require it. As a direct result of this, USB sticks are becoming obsolete.
Cloud Storage options:
1. Apple iCloud
iCloud is ueful as it can be used to store a backup of your entire iPad. At the College we recommend using it for storing your Pages, Keynote and Numbers documents. This provides quick access to all the files you are editing.
To enable iCloud for the backup of Pages, Numbers and your Keynote files, select Settings -> iCloud -> Documents and Data -> On. Then select Settings -> Pages -> iCloud -> On. Do the same for Keynote and Numbers.
2. Accessing iCloud from a computer:
iCloud can be accessed to download or upload any work from a computer as well. This is useful for students who need to be able to work on a document at home and then have it accessible the next day on their iPad. This is done the following way:
1. The user browses to http://www.icloud.com/
2. The user enters in their username and password for their Apple ID in the field that require it.
3. The user select iWork
4. The user select either Pages, Keynote or Numbers to download their file from.
5. The user selects the format they want to edit the file in and downloads the document for editing.
6. To upload the file the user selects the Cog from the top right of screen and then selects upload document.
